At Poppy we make bespoke and made to measure bridal wear to the highest quality standards. We design and create exclusive custom made and made to measure wedding dresses based on each client's exact requirements and measurements, during fittings held in our fitting studio.
We are able to create any wedding dress design required (that is possible from the dressmaking point of view), not just designs that are part of our wedding dress collection. Brides who choose to have a bespoke wedding dress always have a say in the development of their unique custom made design. We take pride in working as a team with each bride to create their dream wedding dress.
Each dress is individually made by our highly skilled tailors, and the ideal minimum ordering time is six months before the wedding. We are able to work with tighter deadlines too.
If you are considering purchasing your wedding dress from us there are a few options available to you:
1. Our bespoke service: We are able to create any unique designs required by our clients. You might wish to combine details of some of our collection designs or you might wish to bring a completely new design for us to create.
2. Our made-to-measure service: You may choose one of our collection designs made on your complete set of measurements. We welcome the idea of personalising your dress, so you may bring small variations to the design such as to remove or add straps or change the length of the train or the volume of the skirt.
The Bespoke Process
The first stage is designing your dream gown. Some brides already have a strong idea of their dream gown; they can sit down with our designer who can produce several sketches. However you may wish to try on several gowns and our designer can help you choose your favourite elements from each. Your Wedding gown can be an eclectic mix of your favourites. You can have the neckline of one gown, the skirt from another and the silk from yet another.
We have an extensive library of silks and decorative finishing for you to choose from. You can even have a piece of embroidery designed and produced. You will be given swatches of your chosen silks and a signed design illustration.
The next stage is called a 'toile'. This French term describes the process of creating a mock up of the gown in unbleached cotton. We use this stage to create a perfect fit, the seams will be placed and shaped by our experienced designer to show your figure off to its best advantage, at this stage we can emphasise your favourite assets and minimise the not so favourite. You can use this stage to ensure the gown is exactly as you wish.
At your hem fitting you are able to try on your own gown, in your chosen silk. At this stage we perfect the length of the gown. This is the ideal time to try on various accessories, such as headdresses and veils to complete your look.
Approximately two weeks before the wedding you will have your final appointment. Your gown, which has been hand finished to the highest standard, has had a final press and steam. This final stage is used as a wedding morning practice. We will teach whomever you have chosen to help you into the gown how so as to ensure you are the epitome of elegance as you walk down the aisle.
Tracey Wilson - Biography
Having acquired a BA(Hons) degree in Fashion design, Tracey over the past decade has worked along side renowned & award winning UK bridal design houses and honed her innate skills. A recent collection was modelled by Jade Jagger at the designer wedding show in London. She specialises in classically understated yet contemporary designs, incorporating expert corsetry to make the gowns fit perfectly and enhance the female form. Each season Tracey ensures she incorporates the key trends in her designs so that brides can create a look which is both contemporary and timeless.
